Art dissolves our society's imposed boundaries and encourages us to think differently and be authentic. It has always felt necessary, even essential, to embrace my femininity within my work. That pull is reflected in the creation process too, it's not so much about desiring to do - but instead listening, really listening, to what is calling to be done.

Typically, I live my day-to-day in a very masculine way - routines, schedules, projects. My mind always pre-occupied with what's next. Even my meditation practice has a structure and schedule - schedule and structure, the way I've been conditioned to be.

When I'm painting, I often feel lost and found in the same moment; time seemingly stands still. Everything else dissolves away, and I find myself in the middle of the process without knowing what's next or desiring to. This state of being reminds me of Sal - having a slow day, drinking tea, picking flowers and reading her latest book - without a schedule, without being sucked into the business of life. Just flowing, enjoying, loving, growing...

This artwork represents the feminine power and pleasure we all have within (man or woman). It's making time to allow life to unfold. It's embracing the unkown. It's the ancient secrets of a woman's womb. It's walking somewhere without a plan and finding yourself staring out at the softest hues of a beautiful sunset. It's the pleasure of presence and freedom of authenticity.
