A lot of my work is inspired by African landscapes. Snow covered mountains, tropical jungles, baking deserts it’s got it all.
But this landscape is a little different. In a few areas of South Africa, there are these amazing circles, seemingly cut into the grasslands there and within the boarder of these circles it is baron, lies nothing but dust.
The first time I heard of and saw this I was amazed, it’s completely unique to any landscape I’d ever seen before. It’s still not proven how the circles are created.
In this piece I’ve used abstract versions of those circles, a color pallet that I hope gives them some strong contrast and draws attention to them in a way that makes them the ‘center of attention’…
